Local Churches can now run their own Leadership Training Centre, giving you a strong degree of ownership and influence in the way you mature your congregation and train leadership for your Local Church. Armed with sound Course content, a proven curriculum, all materials provided and flexibility, you can now train and mentor your own people right where you are and when it suits you. Here are a few tips and some hands-on practical information .........
FORMAT FOR RUNNING A LOGOS TRAINING CENTRE (suggestions)
1. Training Centres vary from one place to another ... probably no two are alike because our delivery method allows for flexibility in suiting the local context. Some centres do one night a week in a classroom format (teacher with Logos notes, data projector, etc), some use Sunday (e.g, like we do at 1st AG Church Kuala Lumpur, given hectic traffic), some use an Intensive format (cover the essentials over a few days or weekends and allow the students to do the rest at home), some use a mixed mode (both classes and Intensive), some let the students work privately at home as an Independent Study Student (and report progress to pastor every month or so), and we have a centre even doing full time on-campus.
2. Yearly Calendar. We usually recommend utilizing about 35-40 weeks a year to run your courses, allowing time off for school holidays, public holidays, Christmas, etc. Here in KL, where the home office is, we usually cease classes for the 2 months including the Dec and Jan period, Chinese New Year for 2 weeks in Feb/March, and skip for important church calendar dates, though that is optional. You can also work around your own church calendar, skipping dates and times where you feel necessary. The speed in which you cover a course is up to you.
3. Subjects per year. At the beginning you need to decide how many subjects you want to do a year. So, eg, if you decide to do 4 subjects a year (which is not a bad part time rate; most of our centres do 4 a year), you will be looking at, eg, about 2 years to complete a Specialized Training Certificate (8 subjects plus a practicum) or about 3 years to complete a Bible College course like the Christian Education Certificate. Four is a good moderate pace allowing enough time for classes, study, reflection, and assessments. Some centres, however, choose 3 subjects a year, or maybe even 5 if pushing ahead.
4. Teaching. It normally takes about 2 1/2 to 3 months to do one subject. As a rule of thumb, depending on the nature and length of the subject, around 10 classes of about 2 hours teaching per class is sufficient to teach a subject. Some shorter subjects may only require 8 or 9 classes, some longer ones can be up to 12 or 15 … it’s up to you really … and depending on how long and thorough you want to cover a subject. Some centres do 3 hours at a time. Again, the delivery mode is flexible because the courses are designed to allow for full independent study by an individual student. Under Australian Vocational Training conditions (on which our curriculums are based), the length and time it takes to do a subject does not really matter, just so the final student assessment (such as Content Assignments) proves competency and skills in the relevant subject area.
5. Place. Some centres use their church auditoriums, some use a designated classroom, some use private homes or pastors offices if they are suitable, some hire rooms in public buildings, etc. The place is negotiable, just so it is relatively private, conducive for teaching, cool, comfortable, ideally with some desks or tables, good date projection, sound system if a big class, etc. You might even want to record the class for future clases of new goups coming through.
6. Materials. We provide the full set of Notes materials plus the assignments for students to do. In most cases we also have modern Powerpoints for you to teach from in classes. You are free to change and adapt these PPs to your context.

OTHER GENERAL INFORMATION
By becoming a Leadership Training Centre, we provide just about everything for you – the curriculum, full notes, feedback, encouragement, support, conferring of awards, etc. Our comprehensive notes provide all the teaching materials for most subjects, meaning that the Local Church pastor does not have to search for materials, texts and other teaching resources. Extra textbooks generally do not need to be purchased for most subjects because our notes already provide crucial extracts from classic resource materials. Bibliographical references are provided. We take care of the headaches of administration and Course material, and you can get on with what counts most to you……inspiring your people and imparting your life experiences, gifts and unique calling. You can even bring in others of your staff team to help minister to your students.
Here is a chance for the trainees under your oversight to receive inspiration, impartation, teaching, ministry, and mentoring from you, the Pastor/Leader. Those whom you identify as potential leadership, or those who simply want to mature in your Church, can either study individually at home, work, church, etc, or come together to study in a group, under your leadership, in which you contribute your time and ministry to the extent that you want, teach the sections you consider important, and leave the rest to the comprehensive notes and study materials to do the work. You can use your Church auditorium, instruction room, office, Home Group, house, or any other location that is suitable for group learning if you choose this format over individual learning.
All you need to administrate a Training Course in your Local Church is a Site Administrator (someone who has a passion for learning, training or education) who can relate to us and direct your study program under your oversight. This person will need to have access to a computer connected to the Internet so as to be able to download our subjects/training materials, relate to us, and handle correspondence. It is not necessary for every learner to own a computer or pay for an Internet connection in remote localities. From a single downloaded copy, your Site Administrator can print and distribute to all the people in your Church who want to Train or learn. Busy pastors, therefore, can simply Oversee the Training Centre and let the Site Administrator organize it, while you focus on mentoring your leadership.
There is also a basic mentoring model we can help you with, in which you and the trainee set goals for the coming 12 months and you help provide the opportunities for them to develop and attain those goals. Whatever the method, use this resource to train your up-and-coming leaders or to mature your congregation. You can even give your trainees opportunity to “practice” - bring a devotion, share, preach, explain what they learned from the studies, how their learning may be applied, participate in worship,
